A Quick Intro: Who I Am and Why I Do What I Do

My story

Hi, I’m Tatiana, a holistic nutritionist, the founder of Owlistic Nutrition, and an ultrasound technologist at a local hospital. I help women and men struggling with autoimmune conditions, weight management, and digestive issues achieve optimal wellness. I live in Seattle with my husband, a teenage daughter and two fluffy Ragdoll cats.

My own health journey began almost 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis while studying in an ultrasound program. During a practice lab, my instructor scanned my thyroid and immediately recognized “the pattern”. He recommended that I have a thyroid panel blood test. I did the test, and finally, I found an explanation for the wide range of symptoms I’ve experienced for YEARS. Since then, I've learned how to live my life symptom-free and to the fullest. Now, as a holistic nutritionist with a background in evidence-based nutritional therapy, chemistry, ultrasound technology, and project management, I am passionate about sharing all that I've learned with my clients across the globe.

I founded Owlistic Nutrition to offer evidence-based holistic nutritional therapy services to clients diagnosed with autoimmune conditions such as hypothyroidism and/or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, as well as those who refuse to accept that thyroid hormonal medication is the only solution to improving their symptoms.

As a nutritional therapy practitioner, I also develop nutritional protocols and personalized meal plans for clients dealing with gut and skin issues, migraines, PMS, weight gain, fatigue, hair loss, etc. Check out my Free Resources page to download a free sample meal plan. My goal is to provide my clients with all the tools available today, allowing them to get back to living their lives to the fullest and doing what they love symptom-free.

Why consider me as your Nutritional Therapy Practitioner?

Firstly, I bring a diverse educational background, including a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences with a major in Environmental Chemistry and a minor in Nutritional Ecology & Human Health, which provides me with a solid foundation in human nutrition science and the chemical interactions within the body. Additionally, my B.Sc. in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (aka Ultrasound) has deepened my understanding of human physiology and anatomy.

With over a decade of experience in hospitals, where I've had the privilege of caring for sick patients and contributing to diagnosing their illnesses, I've gained invaluable insights into the pivotal role of nutrition in promoting health and wellness.

In addition to my hospital experience, I expanded my knowledge of nutrition by completing a holistic nutrition program taught by experienced professionals at the Nutritional Therapy Association. Through this program, I gained comprehensive knowledge of nutritional therapy, which was an eye-opening experience. By implementing the strategies I learned in the NTA program, I’ve helped my clients achieve their health goals in a matter of weeks.

As your holistic nutritionist, I will use evidence-based nutritional strategies customized to meet your unique needs.

Why Nutritional Therapy?

You might ask, “Tatiana, why, after studying environmental chemistry, human health, and ultrasound technology, did you decide to add nutritional therapy to the list? Since you are an ultrasound technologist, can’t you just go to work, take ultrasound images, write your preliminary reports for radiologists, and be happy?”

The truth is, I’ve always been passionate about helping people maintain their health throughout their lives. When it came time to decide on a career in college, medicine felt like the obvious choice. But in Europe, where I grew up, almost every girl in my high school wanted to be a doctor, so I chose a different path - studying environmental chemistry and human health.

Later, while working in the field of environmental chemistry, I found it intellectually stimulating but lacking the human interaction I craved. On top of that, I wanted a more flexible work schedule. The standard 9-to-5 grind didn’t align with my soul. When I became pregnant with my daughter, a routine first-trimester ultrasound introduced me to the world of ultrasound technology. I was fascinated by the profession and decided to pursue it.

Becoming an ultrasound technologist turned out to be one of the most fulfilling choices I’ve made, offering both intellectual challenge and the joy of helping others. I still work as an ultrasound technologist today, providing care and support to my patients while continuing to learn and grow in my profession.

However, after working for more than 10 years in the medical field in the USA, I began to notice a troubling pattern: many health issues could have been prevented through better lifestyle choices - particularly improved nutrition.

I realized that while we emphasize avoiding stress and getting enough sleep, there’s little practical guidance on how to eat in a way that supports long-term health. Too often, we eat without purpose, unaware of what, when, or why we’re consuming certain foods. This lack of understanding can prevent us from achieving the energy, balance, and vitality needed to enjoy life to its fullest.

Conventional approaches to nutrition didn’t resonate with me - I saw firsthand the hospital food many patients were served, and I knew there had to be a better way. That’s when I turned to holistic nutrition. After intensive study, I felt ready to guide others toward optimal health.

Today, as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I help clients manage symptoms, lose weight, and feel empowered by their health. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing people transform their lives through proper nutrition, gaining the strength and energy to do what they love and live fully.

This is why I do what I do - it’s my passion and my purpose.
